Set on a flood-prone site in coastal New Brighton, this project takes a contemporary approach to the humble weatherboard beach shack.

The existing building is retained and converted to bedrooms with a courtyard providing a break between the old building and a new living pavilion.

The house is raised above the high water line, with the undercroft retained as a flexible workshop space and informal living area - destined for surfboard repairs and sandy feet.
